Okay, so we all know the story-there's a big race, rabbit gets cocky and takes a nap, slow and steady wins the race. But in my story, the turtle passes out, and is sore for days and the rabbit wakes up refreshed and has a whole night of fun ahead of him. the end.

Michael, another great illustration. Keep 'em coming!
So according to your story here, I guess it pays to be a slacker!
Another great piece Michael.

Gorgeous colour palette...and how are you getting some of those beautiful textures...? Are they all in computer or are you getting your hands dirty at all then scanning. Really, really wonderful work...& it has a moral...er...an early night is better than a trip to the gym...?! Thanks for the blog comments sir...really appreciate it...straight back at you!
Everything you need to know about the fable is in this one scene, plus it's fun! Love the textures on the tree and wooden sign.
the illustration itself is amazing and the little textual twist makes it even better. its so lively even if one is napping and the other is on a path for pass out.
Darn it. I had a similar idea, but you beat me to it... by a good few days too! Oops. Great work as always. All the best, Kirstie

thanks for all the wonderful comments, everyone.
Jason & Matt- I don't know what kind of moral I really had in mind. I guess I was thinking " never underestimate the power of a good disco nap."
Matt- I do make most of my own textures, using a printing press, paper towels, rags etc. but I do reuse them, of course. as far as getting my hands dirty, that's usually from sitting at the computer and eating at the same time.
Thanks for the shout out man! Your work is staggering! I'm a huge fan.
what a fantastic style you have! So glad I landed on your blog! :)
