cat and mouse game

These cats had better exercise a little caution. They're out cruising around the bad side of town looking for trouble, and they're about to find it. These boys think they're about to pick up a little snack for the road, but may have another thing coming. I originally started this one out with the mouse was the one who was in danger, but then decided to turn the tables by adding the sign on the side of the building. Whatever the outcome, I had fun doing it.

Had to leave a comment on this one - love it! The cats are really well designed and again you took a somewhat simple composition and with a bunch of well placed textures made an awesome illustration. Would love to see a small kids book like this. Also your style, while retro, has a great updated look - like the car and how you shaped some of the details. Great piece - keep posting!

It seems that every time you post something new I find myself thinking "oh, that's my favorite Michael Robertson piece!"

Your ability to tell a story in a single frame is wonderful. I love your concept here, and it leaves the viewer to fill in the blanks as to the outcome (which is always fun).

Outstanding Michael!

This is my favorite piece so far...until your next post!

Great storytelling! You always make me feel so lazy, as I normally revert to a plain BG or a simple texture. Your compositions are always spot on.
