tea party

Once she sat down , Gloria the hippo knew it would be a long tea party... mostly because it was going to be hard to move out of that chair.

Another piece I did for Today's Parent magazine-the article discusses the pros and cons of kids having imaginary friends. C'mon, who wouldn't want a hippo named Gloria to hang out with?

At our house we have an imaginary guy called Fred who sometimes joins us for dinner, but right now he's off exploring in the jungle. I think its great for kids to use their imagination this way and hopefully they'll continue to use it as adults as well.

I had an imaginary friend called Terry. I couldn't see him and he didn't talk back, but I liked the idea of having a friend called Terry and my imagination seemed to be the best way of meeting one. Our friendship didn't last long, it was too one sided.

Great art, as always.

Hah well I laughed, thankyou. Gloria! Mind you a hippo by any other name would be as heavy - but not so funny.

That hippo character is awesome, Michael!!! I love that you added a slight pinkish texture in the hippos body. It really helps tie the colors of the Tea cups and the chairs together!

Brilliant work. I wouldn´t be surprised if the Today´s Hippo Parents magazine use your illustration for an article about the hippos´imaginary friends...

SO cute, again :)

I'd say it's a beautifull thing to have enough fantasy to have imaginary friends, I had lots when I was a kid, it still is a source for creativity.
Kids already are being told that facts are good and fantasy is childish, but without my imagination I would have been a very unhappy child.
