retro cocktail hour

I did this a couple of months ago for a blog called "They Draw and Cook", an idea cooked up by artist pal, Salli. The original idea was to illustrate a recipe or something food related. I decided to go the cocktail route-I thought that with all those exotic names, they would be really fun to illustrate. While researching cocktails, I quickly realized there were far too many to fit on one page, so I have a feeling I'll be back with a few more of these.
I haven't tried any of these yet but truthfully, most of them probably sound a lot better than they taste.

Anyway, check out "They Draw and Cook" here and start working on your own recipe to contribute!

Great designs and very humorous interpretations.
I suspect most of these appear and sound more fancy than they actually are...although, I'd be curious to see how one'd interpret something seemingly outrageous like Bloody Mary or Slippery Nipple!

Very lively and thirst-quenching in a visual sense. There was a book from about ten years ago called "Recipes for Disaster", as book of illustrators' takes on recipes. Pam Sommers was the author/editor. I think you might like it.

I just went to the site and boy am I excited!! This is super fantastic and I love each drink and character. You talk about me, but I'm still learning. Your color sense is just stellar. Honestly, not just blowing smoke up your grass skirt, You make me want to be a better artist with each post. I never measure my work by someone else's because as artist and illustrator we each bring something unique and special to the table, but I enjoy your work so much that it inspires me to really press towards the next level and your work is on such a very high level! Great work.

Fantastic work as always. It's tough to keep coming up with new words for "brilliance". So I'll keep it simple. Brilliant!

Very nice! It reminds me of the place mats at this old-school Chinese restaurant in Edmonton called The Lingnan, or from the Kahiki in Columbus back before it closed. Lovely, indeed. I'd like to see your illustration the famous non-alcoholic cocktail - Shirley Temple. That would be amusing.
