Once she sat down , Gloria the hippo knew it would be a long tea party... mostly because it was going to be hard to move out of that chair.
Another piece I did for Today's Parent magazine-the article discusses the pros and cons of kids having imaginary friends. C'mon, who wouldn't want a hippo named Gloria to hang out with?

i smell an art jam coming on. imaginary friends anyone?
inspiring piece as always michael!
At our house we have an imaginary guy called Fred who sometimes joins us for dinner, but right now he's off exploring in the jungle. I think its great for kids to use their imagination this way and hopefully they'll continue to use it as adults as well.
I had an imaginary friend called Terry. I couldn't see him and he didn't talk back, but I liked the idea of having a friend called Terry and my imagination seemed to be the best way of meeting one. Our friendship didn't last long, it was too one sided.
Great art, as always.

Hah well I laughed, thankyou. Gloria! Mind you a hippo by any other name would be as heavy - but not so funny.
cheers Michael!
I'd love to see the Hippo sitting in the back seat kicking the dad's seat while dad's driving...wink, wink, nudge, nudge...!
Great piece!
Hey Michael, your work continues to inspire me. This is great,it's both cute and funny. I love the hippo! The textures and colors are great. As always, a wonderful piece!
That hippo character is awesome, Michael!!! I love that you added a slight pinkish texture in the hippos body. It really helps tie the colors of the Tea cups and the chairs together!
Brilliant work. I wouldn´t be surprised if the Today´s Hippo Parents magazine use your illustration for an article about the hippos´imaginary friends...
SO cute, again :)
I'd say it's a beautifull thing to have enough fantasy to have imaginary friends, I had lots when I was a kid, it still is a source for creativity.
Kids already are being told that facts are good and fantasy is childish, but without my imagination I would have been a very unhappy child.
Hey Michael, how are you buddy?
Hehehe! Gloria is really cool, and you're right, I would absolutely want a hippo named Gloria in my living room to have tea with :D
As always this illustration is amazing and super fun! love the colours and the characters. your text made me laugh too, you are THE MAN! :D
Cheers
the thought , and the life you have in your art makes it memorable ,

Well speaking for me I'd love to hang out with Gloria, but my imaginary mongoose buddy Clive wouldn't like it so... Glorious work Michael, love that delicately poised tea cup... and great use of the bertoia chairs :)

Oh, I'd LOVE to have an imaginary hippo friend named Gloria! (Of course at my age, people might mistake that for being a tad CRAZY! LOL) This is sooooo awesome :) Love it!
